Nothing like taking a relatively inexpensive machine and getting the job done.

Those little gleaners are very capable machines. It'll work They don't hold much over 60 bushels. We ran a K with a 3 row head up until about 13 years ago. Doesn't have to be a speed demon, I can go slow, I dont have much to pull.
Easy to work on and easy to maintain. Combines can be set to make a better sample than most machines on the market today. In real good corn I would have the variable speed all the way back in first gear and had to be careful not to run corn over the return.Long back should help lots.
I remember riding picking peanuts with a 2 row. The downside is almost everyone else is 6 rows or bigger, and there are no small combines and it is pulling teeth to get someone to combine a crop around here, and I want to combine again.I figure that a good K2 can do what I need easily and in relative comfort, not to mention small enough that I should not need much special to work on it. Another reason is I plant with a 2 row planter, and yes that does get looks, but no more than we have, you have got to strech it out, and I am not scared to plant acres with one if I had to. As I understand it, they are the last small combines built. I have been a bit fixated on a K2.

We have seen 6R30 on F2's, so I would say running 1 empty row on a wouldnt be the end of the world. Any how that was my experience, but maybe your K is a narrower machine or the head is offset. I suggest running a and running 1 row dry, I used a on an F for a few years, but the combine is almost wider than the head, so you are always brushing the next row and knocking ears off or if the guess row is narrow running the next row clear down.Got a 4 row and was much happier just running one dry. If anyone has any information on what will fit the K or if know of a for sale let me know. I have a gleaner K that I would like to find a corn head for, I have a right now but purchased newer planter so switching to 30" rows not sure if a would fit the K or not.
The trick will be to find one cheap enough. That's what I wasn't sure of I thought the F's had 2 drive chains and the K only 1 on left side so a is what I need, now just finding one that doesn't cost more than the combine.Got a real nice but a long way from you. Maybe your luck is much better then mine! K only drives from the left side, you go 2 or 3 rows. Are you sure you want to run an extra row on those headers? Isn't that the head that still uses chains and shafts to drive each row unit?I shudder when I think back on past memories of the bearing problems and keeping the chains under the head oiled and adjusted.

Running a on K was a miserable experience especially since we planted with a 4 row The machine is just narrow enough to run behind that head.Any substantial curve and you're taking out corn.
